The community of Watford is mourning the passing of William “Bill” Lammers, 74, who died on June 11, 2026. Born in 1952, Bill lived a life deeply rooted in family, farming, and community, leaving behind a legacy that is being remembered with warmth and gratitude.
Bill was born and raised in Lambton County, the eldest son of Bill and Mary Lammers, who immigrated from the Netherlands in 1951. He grew up on the family dairy farm on Churchill Road, where he learned early the meaning of hard work, responsibility, and perseverance. Even as a young student at Holy Rosary School in Wyoming, where he first arrived not speaking English, he adapted quickly and built lasting friendships.
In 1979, Bill married Marilyn, the love of his life. Together, they built a home and a life on their farm on First School Road, where they raised their four children. Their farm was more than just a place of work—it was a gathering place filled with family, laughter, and memories, from skating on the pond in winter to long summer days spent outdoors with friends and neighbors.
Bill spent much of his career working in agriculture, including roles with Agriculture Canada and later the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. Even with a busy working life, he remained deeply connected to his community. He was known for his easy smile, his storytelling, and his “dad jokes” that never failed to lighten a room.
Family and friends also remember his love for Lake Huron, where he enjoyed taking his children and grandchildren boating and tubing, creating memories that will be treasured for generations.
Above all, Bill was a family man. He is survived by his wife Marilyn, his children Jeremy (LeeAnn), Jennifer LaJoie (Kyle), Stephanie (Mason), and Andrew (Meagan), and his grandchildren, who were the pride of his life.
He will be remembered as a man who valued people, worked with his hands, and lived with humility and kindness. His presence will be deeply missed in Watford and beyond, but his legacy lives on through the family and community he helped build.
